Dr. Serdar Tunçer was born in Istanbul in 1974. He studied middle school and high school at Istanbul American Robert College. He completed his medical education at Istanbul Faculty of Medicine between 1992 and 1998 and graduated from the faculty of medicine with first place.
He completed his specialty training at Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery between 1998-2005. He worked with the Ist-Hand Surgery, Microsurgery and Rehabilitation group between 2005-2006. In 2008, he started working at Istanbul Bilim University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He became an assistant professor in 2009, an associate professor in 2012, and a professor in September 2017.
During his medical school years, he did internal medicine internships at the University of Rostock, Germany, and General Surgery internships at the University of Michigan, USA. In 2004, during his residency training, he was an observer at the Department of Plastic Surgery, Duke University Faculty of Medicine, USA, for three months. In September 2018, he spent a month in different hand surgery centers in the USA as part of the Traveling Fellowship Program organized by the American Association for Hand Surgery.
After his specialization, he focused on the fields of hand surgery, microsurgery and reconstructive surgery, which are the areas he is interested in and loves, and he still continues his work mainly in these areas.
European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (EBOPRAS) Certificate of Competence (2012); Turkish Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Association Competency Certificate (2011); He holds the Turkish Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery Association Practitioner Competency Certificate (2011) and ECFMG Certificate (2005). He speaks advanced English and also works as a simultaneous and written medical translator.
He has been working in his own practice since December 2019 .
